Virtual Internships
Background
The project focuses on designing a SaaS Dashboard for an EdTech platform that connects students with host companies.
The goal is to help host companies search, interview, and manage interns efficiently through an intuitive and data-driven dashboard.
Core problem
The existing dashboard is too basic and underdeveloped.
It lacks visual hierarchy, poor UX flow, and ineffective data presentation, making it difficult for companies to manage recruitment efficiently.

Design Process
Understanding the Host Company Journey
I began by mapping out the recruitment journey of a host company, from posting internship openings to reviewing applications, interviewing, and onboarding interns. This helped identify critical friction points in their workflow.

I gathered qualitative data through Backends to define the primary persona: HR coordinators or startup founders managing intern programs.

Competitor benchmarking
In order to understand best practices, as well as getting more ideas, I signed up for multiple existing recruitment and HR management platforms to explore their dashboards firsthand. Through this hands-on analysis, I created a benchmarking table comparing key information.

Core concept
The core concept focused on turning the dashboard into a comprehensive summary of the entire recruitment process. It visualizes each stage from job posting to intern onboarding, allowing host companies to grasp their overall progress at a glance and experience a smoother, more connected workflow.

Wireframing & System Integration
Low-fidelity wireframes were created to explore content hierarchy and task flows. Iterations were tested with the internal product team. A major consideration was ensuring the dashboard worked seamlessly with other modules logic, such as the Data pool or Hiring kanban board.

Delivery

Technical Specification Support
Beyond the UI, I also prepared detailed technical documentation specifying component behaviors, states, and data interactions. This ensured smooth collaboration between design and engineering teams during implementation.

Key takeaways
The dashboard needed to cover all existing system functions while helping users grasp key information effortlessly.
Designing a complex, scalable system was essential to ensure smooth performance across multiple variables and user flows.
Bonus
Scoring System for Smarter Recommendations
In addition to the main dashboard, I suggested a custom scoring system that evaluates candidates based on key performance metrics and engagement data. This feature enables the platform to generate smarter recommendations for host companies, helping them identify the most suitable interns faster.
